This role requires a strong sense of ownership -- for any project assignment, you will design it, make it, and ensure it works. At the same time, you won't do this in a vacuum. We are very team-oriented, and you'll not only collaborate with others, you also will depend on them for specialized expertise. That means your own technical expertise will be essential, but just as important will be your communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

While the position involves a good deal of design work, you also will make hands-on contributions, such as analyses, lab work, and coordinating with vendors. You should be able to think in the abstract, but also keep our internal customers in mind: everything we do is oriented to helping the production operations be more efficient and effective.

We understand that there will be a learning curve, and you'll have support, but we'll also look to you to be proactive about getting up to speed quickly. The pace here is fast and change happens frequently. Those who excel at Gentex Optics truly enjoy the dynamic environment and remain agile and able to pivot. As our markets and organization continue to evolve, you'll need to be flexible and open to ongoing change.
